I used the Rollup which worked but there was still about 70 more updates. Click on the RUN at the top, then Right Click on it, and select PASTE; 16. You should now be able to setup the UPDATEs in Control Panel and Search For Updates. I individually downloaded the following patches from Microsoft but after downloading them all I disconnected and disabled internet connection while installing them 3102810 3050265 3065987 3135445 3161664 3020369 3172605 3138612 The above updates are for 64 bit windows 7 I had to reboot after some of them were installed and I had to be sure windows was unable to reconnect to the Internet.
This is my 4th clean install, driver updating and essential app installation and still Windows Update refuses to work. Have this one a go, it's from Microsoft and has detailed instructions and fix it that might help solve that problem of yours.

I tried the solution step by step but no luck on my Acer Aspire One 722 with Windows 7 Premium 64-Bit with SP1.
I ran that kb3102810 file, did the restart of windows when it told me to, ran the search for windows updates using windows updates which found just over 200 updates about 15 minutes after i started the search.
